Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Houston County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email message may be retained long enough to answer it and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers may automatically receive basic technical details about the visit:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when available
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- The device IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic data, such as which pages are used most and where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, though parts of the site may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected partner
- Finding and correcting technical faults
- Measuring which pages are useful
- Operating and improving site performance
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Houston County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It describes how to contact Houston County offices, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or dossiers about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by that company’s privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices, not this policy. Review those terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Houston County agencies, Texas state offices, courts, legal resources, or outside tools. Once another site opens, its privacy policy controls the visit. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select relevant ads.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a submitted query
- Advertising networks serving page ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards protect collected information. No internet system is completely secure, however, so absolute protection or the absence of a future breach cannot be promised.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be deleted after notice.
Your Data Rights
Rights depend on the law that applies to the visitor and the data. Texas public records are governed in part by the Texas Public Information Act, while Government Code Chapter 411 controls criminal-history dissemination. Those laws do not make this private resource a government record custodian. Requests to this operator may include:
- Opting out of certain processing
- Requesting correction of inaccurate data
- Asking for deletion where applicable
- Seeking a copy of personal data on file
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A new version becomes available here with its updated effective date.
